HF 235 would prohibit public funds from being expended for the purpose of providing abortions.
The bill would prohibit health-care services furnished by or in a health-care facility owned or operated by the state or local government or by an individual employed by the state or a local government entity from including the provision of abortions.
Additionally, the bill provides that any amount paid by an individual or an entity during a taxable year for an abortion or as premiums for health-care coverage that includes coverage for abortion would not be tax deductible.
This bill would not apply to an abortion when the pregnant patient suffers from a physical illness that would place the patient in danger of death unless an abortion is performed.
