Iowa Bill Regarding Medication Abortion Restrictions (HF 173)
This law was last updated on Dec 15, 2014
HF 173 would have prohibited dispensing abortion-inducing drugs by anyone other than a physician and would have required that the physician comply with all federal regulations relating to abortion-inducing drugs. The physician would have been required to administer abortion-inducing drugs in person and in a clinic or hospital with the capacity to provide surgical intervention in cases resulting in an incomplete abortion or severe bleeding.
This bill is similar to SF 14 except this bill contains an explicit telemedicine ban while SF 14 is somewhat vague on the issue.
