HB 1361 would prohibit any changes made to a person’s birth certificate or permanent record regarding their gender.
The bill would provide exceptions for typographical or clerical errors.
The bill would also provide an exception if a DNA test revealed the presence or absence of the Y chromosome and such discovery differed from the individual’s recorded gender.
If passed, transgender individuals would be banned from changing their birth records to match their authentic gender.
