Indiana Bill Prohibiting State Agency Contracts with Abortion Educators (SB 388)
This law was last updated on Sep 6, 2018
SB 388 would prohibit an agency of the state from contracting with or making a grant to abortion educators.
The bill defines “abortion educators” to mean any of the following entities engaged in training individuals to perform abortions or supervising individuals in the performance of abortions:
- A medical school;
- A nursing school;
- A teaching hospital;
- An individual employed by any such entity as an educator of medical school students, students enrolled in advanced practice nursing programs, or medical school graduates completing medical residency programs.
If any contract or grant is made to an abortion educator, the budget agency would need to make a determination that funds are not available, and terminate the contract or grant.
Similar to SB 566, which failed to pass in 2017.
