Full Bill Text
SJR 7 would serve as an application to the United States Congress to call a convention for proposing a constitutional amendment prohibiting the United States Constitution or any state constitution from defining or construing the definition of “marriage” to mean anything other than the union of one man and one woman.
Such an application would ensure that same-sex marriage is no longer recognized in the United States.
If passed, the application would constitute a continuing application until the legislatures of at least two-thirds of the states have made a similar application regarding the definition of marriage.
STATUS
Passed the senate on February 28, 2017, by an 18-9 vote.
