SB 1394 amends current reporting requirements for hospitals or facilities where abortions are performed.
The bill requires the following additional information be included in all reports of each abortion performed:
Informed Consent Reporting Requirements
The bill requires any physician who provides informed consent or performs fetal ultrasound imaging and auscultation of fetal heart tone services to submit a report that includes a breakdown of the information provided, the number of pregnant people who received such information or services, and what staff member actually provided the information or services (physician, referred physician, or any other qualified person).
The report must also include the number of abortions performed by the physician in which the information required to be provided at least 24 hours prior to the abortion was not provided due to a medical emergency.
Annual Report
The department of health and human services is required to collect all abortion reports, complication reports, and informed consent reports, and prepare an annual statistical report. The report would need to include a breakdown by month of the reasons for abortions, as well as a breakdown by month of the number of abortions performed.
The report must also include statistics from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System containing the following information:
