Full Bill Text
HB 130 would clarify that those authorized or permitted to solemnize marriages are not required to solemnize the marriage of any person.
The bill would allow judges, pastors and other officiants the right to refuse to perform marriage services for same-sex couples.
An amendment added to the bill would require probate judges who choose to marry heterosexual couples to also marry same-sex couples. While this amendment appears to keep probate judges from discriminating against same-sex couples, judges may choose to simply stop performing all marriages in his/her office.
STATUS
Indefinitely postponed on April 28th, 2016.
