H.R. 2742 would prohibit expenses for an abortion from being taken into account for the purpose of tax deductions for medical expenses.
If passed, anyone who has an abortion would be prohibited from claiming the procedure as a medical expense on their federal taxes. The bill provides no exceptions for abortions that are the result of rape or incest, or for abortions that are necessary to save the life of a pregnant person.
