Sara Patenaude has a PhD in History from Georgia State University. Her scholarly work investigates the intersections of race, public policy, and city planning in the twentieth century United States. She is also the cofounder of Hate Free Decatur, a grassroots community organization committed to addressing issues of racial injustice in metro Atlanta.
