Rachael Rollins is a Democrat running for Suffolk County District Attorney in Massachusetts, which includes Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop.    

Rachael has been a lawyer for over 20 years. As a former state and federal prosecutor, she has handled cases involving civil rights violations, white collar fraud, sexual assault, narcotics trafficking, violence, and firearms.  She worked as an attorney at the National Labor Relations Board, where she fought for workers’ rights and prosecuted employers for exploiting undocumented immigrants. In private practice, she provided legal assistance to the poor and sued the Boston Police Department for civil rights violations.  Rachael served as general counsel of the MBTA and MassDOT, and Chief Counsel of MassPort. In these roles, she managed over 150 employees and was responsible for overseeing thousands of cases per year. Rachael currently sits on Attorney General Maura Healey’s Advisory Council on Racial Justice and Equity. She is a former Governor Deval Patrick appointee to the Judicial Nominating Commission, a past president of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, and was elected and served a three year term on the Boston Bar Association Council.

She’s the daughter of two Boston Teachers Union members, the oldest of five siblings, and has family members who have been incarcerated. She’s a breast cancer survivor. She is a single mom to her daughter (a junior Olympian) and to her two nieces due to her siblings’ struggle with the opioid addiction and mental health issues.  

She holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law, and an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.
