Tanya Castle

Tanya Castle is a journalist, feminist, activist and world traveler. She is tremendously curious, adventurous, conscientious and is an advocate for women’s rights and gender justice around the world. Her interest in women’s rights developed while working as a journalist for a national radio station in Rwanda in 2008. While in the small Central African country she was inspired by the stories of violence, discrimination and oppression of women and girls she had the privilege of interviewing. In addition to reporting from Rwanda, Tanya has produced pieces on sexual violence survivors, human rights clubs and indigenous rights and many more social justice issues for various media outlets from Ecuador, Cameroon, Kenya, Lebanon, DRC, Kosovo and Canada. She is also a former editor and outreach director with Gender Across Borders and a current contributor to Make Every Woman Count. Tanya has a Master of International Relations from L’institute supérieur des études politiques in Paris, France and a Bachelor of Journalism with minors in Political Science and Spanish from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. From all of her travels, encounters and discussions one thing is clear to Tanya: a more safe and equitable world for women is a more peaceful and just world for all.
