Murshed Zaheed

As one of the top hybrid public policy, communications and digital strategists in American politics Murshed Zaheed has more than 15 years of experience as a leader, organizer and advocate in a career that stretches from the Congressional corridors in Washington DC to the Bay of San Francisco.
Most recently he served as the Political Director of CREDO Mobile – a social change-oriented corporation renowned for being a progressive powerhouse of activism and philanthropy – empowering its over five million members to fight for progressive change in Washington, D.C., and in state capitols across the country. Under his leadership CREDO Mobile’s political arm – CREDO Action – was able to grow its email community by 70 percent to about 5.7 million members while increasing the size of its Facebook audience by 137%. During that time Murshed also oversaw a donations program which gave away over $4 million to progressive causes including hundreds of thousands to key blue chip progressive orgs such as Planned Parenthood, ACLU, ColorofChange.org, 350.org among others.
Murshed’s years of experience as a senior leadership aide in Congress includes his position as Director of New Media for then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in a role which enabled him to link up the halls of Congress to the world of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube in the early years of emergence of various social media networks. He has also worked and consulted for number of top nonprofit organizations, corporations, and national campaigns helping to build out groundbreaking multi-channel grassroots advocacy campaigns. He was a member of Gov. Howard Dean’s campaign’s groundbreaking digital team during Dean’s 2003–2004 presidential campaign. Murshed received a B.A. in political science from UCLA and also a graduate of Boston University School of Law. He is a member of the bars in Washington D.C. and in Massachusetts.
