Kari Lerum

Kari Lerum is an Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, Sociology & Cultural Studies at University of Washington, Bothell, and an adjunct Professor in Women Studies at the University of Washington, Seattle. Her scholarship centers on the critical study of social inequality, with particular focus on the relationship between sexuality, power, and culture. She teaches courses in topics related to sexuality education, sex work, sexual health, activism, culture and institutions, multi-media storytelling, and research methods. Her current research includes a book project on sexual health movements. She serves on the board of directors for the Pat Graney Prison Transition program (for incarcerated women transiting to community life), and has provided community workshops for organizations such as Girls Rock! Seattle (developing girl rock musicians), Reel Grrls (developing girl filmmakers), and King County Department of Health (on male sex workers). She is also the founder of, and frequent contributor to, the blog Sexuality and Society.
