Dr. Jen Gunter

Jennifer Gunter is an OB/GYN and a pain medicine physician. She authored the book The Preemie Primer, a guide for parents of premature babies.

In addition to her academic writing, her work has also appeared in USA Today, the A Cup of Comfort series, KevinMD.com, EmpowHer.com, Exceptional Parent, Parents Press, Sacramento Parent, and the Marin Independent Journal.

Jen is fascinated with social media and how we can use it to build a better Internet; she has written about Twitter, on-line reviews, and why she thinks doctors should blog.

Jen was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada and graduated from The University of Manitoba School of Medicine in 1990 at the age of 23 (she started young). In 1995 she completed my OB/GYN training at the University of Western Ontario and moved to the United States to complete a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Kansas. After completing her fellowship she continued her studies in pain medicine. She is board certified in OB/GYN in both Canada and the United States. She is also board certified in pain medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine and by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. That’s why she has so many letters after her name.

Mainstream Media Perpetuates HPV Vaccine Mythology

The war cry of the GOP (Grand Old Puritans) is that the HPV vaccine is a license for public fornication. This is how they rally their financial base. I get that, but the press doesn’t have to take the bait. It only becomes a story if the press makes it so.
