This Supreme Court Opinion Is a Trojan Horse for Fascism

Cameron v. EMW Women's Surgical Center isn't just about abortion—it's also about a power grab for your rights.

Lawmakers are using abortion bans to launch a multipurpose attack on your rights—and the Supreme Court is all too happy to give them their blessing.

In this week’s episode of Boom! Lawyered, co-hosts Jessica Mason Pieklo and Imani Gandy break down the Court’s decision to let Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron reanimate the fight to enforce a state law banning the most common form of later abortion. The case is Cameron v. EMW Women’s Surgical Center—steeped in so much civil procedure that Imani is even getting tired of it.

And while this case is about abortion on the surface, it’s also about all that’s lurking underneath—political power, ambition, and how conservative lawmakers use abortion as currency to spend in their own political careers—in the quest to upend democracy.
