Amy Coney Barrett Could Usher In a Hellscape at the Supreme Court

Everything from reproductive freedom and immigration reform to the Affordable Care Act and anti-discrimination laws are in peril.

It’s official.

President Donald Trump has tapped Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who currently sits on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, to fill the Supreme Court seat left open by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg—whose dying wish, it should be noted, was that her replacement be delayed until be “until a new president is installed.”

In a special edition of Boom! Lawyered, #TeamLegal experts Imani Gandy and Jessica Mason Pieklo break down the hellscape we might enter with Coney Barrett’s likely confirmation to the Court. With a 6-3 conservative majority, everything from reproductive freedom and immigration reform to the Affordable Care Act and anti-discrimination laws are in peril.

The TL;DR version? We could be screwed.

Tune in to hear all about:

  • Why Coney Barrett’s membership in the Federalist Society should scare you;
  • What her rulings during her tenure on the Seventh Circuit Court mean for the future of Roe v. Wade and other liberal precedents;
  • Why her fringe religious beliefs are troubling even for mainstream Catholics; and
  • How her confirmation could impact the results of the Nov. 3 presidential election.

This episode is required listening for anyone who believes in the separation of church and state or “doesn’t want to be foisted unwillingly into the Kingdom of God,” as Imani put it.
