Am I Pregnant?
If you're worried, check out Planned Parenthood's newest online tool - a widget designed to help you figure out if you're pregnant, what options are available and how to access those options.
No, no I’m not. I can say that with certainty and I don’t need a widget to confirm it.
However, that’s not the case for many women. In fact, according to Planned Parenthood, unsurprisingly, one of the most common questions nurses and doctors at their centers hear is, “Could I be pregnant?” So, Planned Parenthood has come up with a nifty new media tool for their web site for women who find themselves wondering.
A series of questions are embedded in their new widget and are designed to help the user figure out a) if she’s pregnant, b) if she wants to be pregnant and c) what she wants to do if she actually is pregnant. It’s easy to use and pretty well covers most forms of birth control – including emergency contraception, should a woman decide that’s the route she’d like to go.
The Planned Parenthood web site receives over 2 million visitors a month and because women are increasingly using online tools to access health information, this new widget seems like the logical next step in PP’s toolbox.
“We increasingly use technology to meet and respond to women wherever they may be, and like most of us, that means online,” said [Cecile] Richards [President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America]. “Young women especially want tailored, objective information about sexual and reproductive health, clearly and candidly delivered, through the tools they use every day. We’re committed to providing women with quick and easy-to-access answers to critical questions that they might otherwise be embarrassed to ask, answers that help inform crucially important decisions.”
